Open to the world

Today I sent out a message introducing the site to my network of slot enthusiast.  We will see how the response is.

I am probably over-analyzing this as if I saw a new website with cars I would be all over it.  But reflecting, I need to be chill

Some rule and other things

GARREN RACING

These cars are pretty much 100% wall queens.  That means many of them haven’t run for a long time.  They will require a little oil before running.

  1. They are little plastic cars.  They’re a bit fragile.
  2. If they get broken during shipping, i’ll make it right
  3. Remember allmost all of these cars are “one of a kind”.  The car your thinking about to day, may be the car that someone else was thinking about yesterday

First things First

Hey Everyone, This is Jay and I thought i’d give a little background about why i’m putting cars up for sale.  53 years ago, I wanted an Aurora AF/X set.  It was the one that came with the orange/yellow Roadrunner number 43.  The other car was the white and green Porsche IMSA car (both I still have).  Well I didn’t get the race set.  I think I got a Mattel Electronic handheld football game (I still have that).

When I started getting my own money, I started buying my own slotcar cars/sets.  I would go to garage sales, swap meets, collections, wherever there might be cars.  My challenge was, I was in the midwest so I didn’t have all the available cars as the collectors out on the east coast like New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

My Sister married a guy who was as obsessed as I was with slots.  Those were great days for me and collecting slots.

After about 50 years in collecting, I have about 6,000 cars in just about every type AF/X, Magnatraction, Aurora, Model Motoring, Road Race Replicas, Customs, whatever is out there (except for Tyco’s.).

So here’s the deal, my oldest is in college and my youngest goes to college next year.  My wife and I want to downsize as we have an enormous house.  So when I went to the boys and asked “do you guys want my slots?”  I was a bit disappointed when the response was “no”.

So we’re selling almost all of them.  You’ll see them as “waffles”, auction, straight website sales, etc.  I thought about just selling the whole collection to a buyer, but i’m not interested in $.20 on the dollar.  My wife is stay at home and her OCD had her drooling at a shot to sell my slot cars.

If you have direct questions, you can always drop me an email.  Jay Garren at [email protected]

Slot on, my friends.  BTW, solid offers won’t be refused.
